This took me all day. Pain in the ass to sprite and set this scene up together. Some pieces of it still bother me, I'll touch it up later. Anyways, Cloverfield monster done up over fan art and everything else taken from different video game sources with all new colors applied. Enjoy.

Awesome pic dude, nice touch with the statue of libertys head in the back ground... is that particular sprite taken from TMNT IV?

Also, im not 100% on this but i swear the soldiers at the bottom were taken from the universal soldier game

Im gonna have fun figuring out where the copters came from lol

Yes to the Liberty head..don't remember exactly where the soldiers came from but the name of the character was Luc De..something or other. Might actually recognize the more orange-y buildings behind the Liberty head, also.

its definitely Universal Soldier [link]

THe buildings behind the statues head... also turtles in time, possible stage 1?

OH the buildings on either end and the buildings IMMEDIATELY behind the monster, are those from either Garou Mark of the Wolves or Real Bout Fatal Fury 2? Im like 100% certain they're from an SNK game, just cant tell which lol

Buildings behind the head came from the actual intro or some cut scene (I believe) from Turtles in Time.

Blueish buildings on the sides and the ones right behind him are from Capcom's vs games. Believe the ones right behind him are from X-Men vs SF [link] and I know the buildings on the sides are from MvC1, the Daily Bugle stage. Was only so sure 'cause I've seen MvC stuff overused when it comes to Mugen. Haha.

This is just perfect. I wonder if any human being is capable of a full sprite sheet of this guy. Hahaha.

That'd be some insane amount of work. All I wanted was to animate him some to put in a stage. Unfortunately, while putting the piece together, I realized there might not be the right stage pieces out there in order to get this together.

Interesting. I'd say another similar idea would be to have enough sprites to have him be an actual boss character for MUGEN. Similar to Apocalypse in XMvsSF, you'd only have to animate a few body parts or in the case of say having him breathe, it'd mostly consist of his chest, etc. portions moving up and down gradually. I think as long as you avoided trying to show his body at many different angles it wouldn't be THAT hard. I think some sort of arm attack would be the hardest to sprite, otherwise its just head movement and the tail motion which should be relatively easy considering it isn't too detailed.

Either way I'm sure you can find good sprites for a stage. I'd say the floor can just be wreckage or rubble, or made to look like it. Perhaps using something along the lines of the Savage Land from X-Men COTA or even portions of Onslaught's stage in MVC.
